It was fascinating, and I loved the fatalism theme, as well as the superb prose.<br />My own review: http://100greatestnovelsofalltimequest.blogspot.com/2015/01/one-hundred-years-of-solitude-by.htmlJosephhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00466108789532345790noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-833552366782548505.post-34823110607465065702013-11-29T09:44:50.894+02:002013-11-29T09:44:50.894+02:00Yes I was also a bit scared of re-reading One Hund...Yes I was also a bit scared of re-reading One Hundred Years, but I got into it very quickly. As I said though I think it's not for everyone and that is perfectly normal - I think it will go better if at first you will not desperately try to make some sense of everything and will just enjoy the text as it goes. It doesn't sound like a book my husband would have enjoyed in high school, but he's been telling me forever it was one of his favorite assigned books, so I'm thinking I'll be able to manage! Will have to prepare myself a bit though -- I think this book will take a little dedication.Christinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03215797870829907924noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-833552366782548505.post-86484840307879086602013-11-20T08:33:08.345+02:002013-11-20T08:33:08.345+02:00It is a bit intimidating book, I agree. With certain expectations I think One Hundred Years can be a huge failure. I'm so glad to read your thoughts on it. It seems a little less scary now. I think I just need to go into it with an open mind and enjoy the language. I started One Hundred Years of Solitude a few times and I've never been able to finish it. An American author named Sarah Addison Allen writes light, easy and quick reads in the magical realism world and I just love her books. If you're looking for a quick, sweet and easy MR read, I highly recommend her books. I think I like the genre quite well (Haruki Murakami - I think he can be considered there, The Magus by John Fowles was fantastic, Toni Morrison), in fact, I think I will make it a project to read more magical realism books. I'd like to try this book, but have had no luck with magical realism so far....Sam (Tiny Library)https://www.blogger.com/profile/16375434438465319913noreply@blogger.com
