My personal view is that it'...It is beautiful!

My personal view is that it's not necessary to connect with characters in every book, people are so different afterall and I am perfectly happy observing (and learning from them), even if characters are a bit off from my personal emotional level.

I think the longer you go in book, though, the more you will connect at some level at least, and I also liked the ending of the book (not gonna spoil of course) and I think the ending was what actually got the most thoughts out of me personally. I agree, I actually am not even sure what I enjoyed more with Lady C - the novel itself or the long introduction and propos before and after it :)Rivhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04561804353287763337noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-833552366782548505.post-34013695953853376612013-02-24T21:58:45.680+02:002013-02-24T21:58:45.680+02:00I have this edition. I beg...I have this edition. It's so beautiful!

I began this last year but, unfortunately, had to set it aside due to multiple distractions. Nevertheless, my reaction is similar to yours. Lawrence is eloquent, but I wasn't emotionally connecting with the characters or the story. I wonder if that will change when I get around to finishing it?Dianahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02957349442523993974noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-833552366782548505.post-88304609444568311242013-02-24T17:35:06.196+02:002013-02-24T17:35:06.196+02:00Interesting perspective on Lady C and an enjoyable...Interesting perspective on Lady C and an enjoyable read. I appreciate your thoughtful take on a somewhat controversial book. I say "somewhat" simply because, as you say, times have changed.

I love reading introductions, sometimes they are such gems that they stand out for me in ways the actual book doesn't. If the intro is by a writer I admire I will often pick up the book simply for that reason, as often happens with intros I find by Stephen King.

Looks to me like you're already at least one book ahead for the banned book challenge. :) vikk simmonshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11403016433753838714noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-833552366782548505.post-73730078084371396412013-02-23T18:52:02.758+02:002013-02-23T18:52:02.758+02:00Thanks for the shout-out! Some very good background information for me too :)Christinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03215797870829907924noreply@blogger.com
